Last week, the HC football team played their final game of the 2013 season as they traveled to Lincoln to take on Nebraska Wesleyan. The game included many mental errors from the Broncos as the Prairie Wolves blocked a punt and then returned it for a touchdown to take the lead. [Read more...]

This past Saturday, the Hastings College football team hosted Briar Cliff in hopes to get back on track after a loss at Dakota Wesleyan the week before. Quarterback Matt Overmiller was back in position after he suffered a concussion, but the Broncos still couldn’t hold Briar Cliff as they went on to lose their fourth straight 12-7.

The HC football team has had ups and downs from 2008 to 2011, however, the Broncos are rising back up in the NAIA rankings this season. The Broncos currently sit at No. 17 with a total of 122 points and a 5-0 record. This is the first time since 2009 that the Broncos have been ranked nationally. [Read more...]

The first touchdown of the game was scored in the first five minutes by Concordia, but Hastings College quickly followed with a touchdown and started the second quarter tied.
The Broncos, led by quarterback John Dostal, pulled away as the second quarter continued and scored three touchdowns to Concordia University’s one. Dostal had a total of 70 rushing yards and 281 passing yards.
Going into the third quarter, Hastings led Concordia 24 to 14. During the third quarter, Bronco’s kicker Kenny Anderson kicked his second field goal of the night making the score 27 to 14 and Langston Jones from Concordia University scored a safety.
In the fourth quarter of the game, Concordia University scored 10 points with a 29-yard field goal and a five-yard touchdown pass, but HC’s Dostal had a 50-yard touchdown pass which made the final score of the game 34 to 26.
On National Signing Day the Broncos earned 22 signatures from recruits across six states. This is a notable jump in commitments from previous years.
“This is the most commitments that we have had in a very long time,” said Tony Harper, Bronco head football coach. “We released 22 names, when we usually release 8-11.”
HC received commitments from eight in-state recruits and 14 players from Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri and California. [Read more...]
